Privacy Policy

Finnie ("Finnie," "we," "us") is a mobile app that helps you visualize your progress toward financial independence. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. Finnie is operated by Finnie Technologies LLC, a Texas limited liability company. Questions: hello@getfinnie.com.
The short version: Finnie connects to your accounts read-only — we can see balances and transactions, and we can never move your money. We store your data so only you can access it, we never sell it, and you can delete everything at any time from within the app.
What we collect
- Account details you give us: email address, and (optionally) your first name and birth year. Birth year is used only to compute your age for projections; we never store your age directly.
- Financial data via Plaid: when you link an account, our provider Plaid shares account names/types, balances, and transactions with us on a read-only basis. We store a Plaid access token server-side to refresh this data. We never receive or store your bank username or password.
- Your plan inputs: figures you enter or confirm — annual expenses, monthly savings, a target age — used to compute your FI projections.
How we use it
Only to provide the app: to show your net worth, runway, and projections, and to keep them current. We do not use your financial data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Who we share it with
We use a small set of service providers, each only for the function named:
- Plaid — to connect your accounts. Your use of account linking is also subject to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy.
- Supabase — secure database and authentication hosting.
- PostHog — product analytics. We send only structural, non-financial events (e.g. "viewed the data tab") identified by an app user ID. We never send dollar amounts, balances, names, email addresses, or account identifiers.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose data if required by law.
How long we keep it
- Individual transactions are automatically deleted after 90 days. After that we keep only aggregated summaries linked to your account — such as monthly spending totals by category — which power your trends and contain no individual transaction detail.
- Your account and plan data are kept while your account is active.
- When you delete your account, we remove your data and revoke Plaid access within 30 days.
Your choices
- Delete everything: Settings → delete your account. This purges your data and disconnects every linked institution.
- Disconnect an institution or exclude specific accounts at any time.
- Access or correct your information by contacting us at hello@getfinnie.com.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Each user's rows are isolated by database row-level security, so one user can never read another's data. Server-only secrets (including your Plaid access token) are never shipped to the app. Finnie's access to your accounts is read-only.
Children
Finnie is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We'll post any changes here and update the date above; material changes may require you to re-acknowledge this policy in the app.
